General Questions
Do I need a hub?
Not necessarily. Many devices work directly over WiFi. However, a hub (like SmartThings, Home Assistant, or Apple HomePod) is recommended if you want devices from different brands to work together seamlessly.
Will smart devices slow down my WiFi?
Most smart devices use very little data. The exception is cameras streaming video. A good mesh WiFi system handles dozens of devices without issues.
Can I install devices myself?
Yes! Many devices are designed for DIY installation — smart bulbs, plugs, and sensors are plug-and-play. However, anything involving mains wiring (smart switches, hardwired cameras) should be installed by a qualified professional.
